Typhoons from the original Saudi batch have seen action over Yemen. (Photo: Jamie Hunter/Eurofighter) On March 9 the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) with the UK government to purchase 48 Eurofighter Typhoon swing-role fighters. Leading the sale on behalf of the Eurofighter partner companies, BAE Systems—along with the UK government—had been pursuing a follow-on Saudi buy for several years, having earlier sold 72 Typhoons to the Kingdom. For the partner companies and their suppliers throughout Europe the deal, if finalized, represents a major boost, coming on top of a Qatari order for 24 Typhoons signed...

A few more qualification tests are due to be undertaken, with low-rate production just getting under way. At Farnborough 2018, the weapon is being displayed as an option for both the Eurofighter Typhoon and Saab...

So, this past week the Guam government and the National Weather Service warned us about the monster typhoon of all monster typhoons. "Prepare to die! We're gonna have 250mph winds! Your house will be picked up by the wind and be blown all the way to Malaysia! It'll be a horrible death!" It turns out they shouldn't have even canceled school. What a massively wrong prediction. There is no cat-5 typhoon making a direct hit on the island. There is a tropical storm passing to the north of the island. We'll get 45 mph winds and 4 to 5 inches...

Photos showing off the inside of a Russian nuclear submarine, the largest in active service in the world, have been released, with the huge ship being the inspiration behind the sub from the classic Sean Connery movie The Hunt for Red October. Images show crew members working on the Typhoon-class sub, also known as an Akula, a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine belonging to the Russian Navy. The sub appears to be the Dmitriy Donskoi, which entered into active service in 1982 and, after the decommissioning and scrapping of its Typhoon sister boats, became the largest submarine in the world. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — After tidal surges and high winds from the remnants of a rare typhoon caused extensive damage to homes along Alaska’s western coast in September, the U.S. government stepped in to help residents — largely Alaska Natives — repair property damage. Residents who opened Federal Emergency Management Agency paperwork expecting to find instructions on how to file for aid in Alaska Native languages like Yup’ik or Inupiaq instead were reading bizarre phrases. “Tomorrow he will go hunting very early, and will (bring) nothing,” read one passage.
